SHOTGUN TRAINING 

Shotgun Training Courses

Our shotgun training courses are based upon “real-world” necessities and practical shooting applications taught by experienced shotgun handlers. These classes will provide you with the training you need while saving you overall range time and ammunition expenses. Through your participation in these courses you will be coached through all facets of shotgun operations, leading to your becoming a confident shotgun handler.

BASIC SHOTGUN

Duration: 2 hours

Basic Shotgun is an introduction to the basic function, operation and marksmanship with the shotgun and will provide the student with basic information on how a shotgun works, ballistics and patterning; and how shotguns are safely and effectively operated in defensive environments. The student will learn how to properly load and unload the shotgun and how to operate the shotgun safely and tactically in stressful situations. The student will fire their shotgun for accuracy and pattern. The foundations of shotgun tactics and self-defense are provided in this class.

Prerequisite: None

The 2 hour Basic Shotgun class includes targets and predominately range time, “hands-on” progressive instruction.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the class.

Attire:

Attendees should wear comfortable clothing to include a long sleeve crew neck type of shirt and closed toe footwear. The wearing of a brimmed ball cap is suggested for the range work, however not required.

Equipment:

Students should bring a shotgun, 10 slugs, 10 rounds buckshot and 20 rounds of birdshot. Note- based upon shotshell availability, shooters may bring in 30 rounds of any sized “shot” (bird-buck), in addition to the 10 slugs.

Safety:

Both hearing and eye protection are required, and if not owned, can be purchased through us at a discounted package price.

Waivers:

The required general liability waiver can be downloaded and completed on-line before your scheduled training session if you prefer:

  1. General release of liability waiver (annually)
  1. Rental firearm use waiver-must be completed on the day of training if a TTC rental shotgun is to be used for this training. If using a TTC rental firearm, ammunition must be purchased from us to be used in our firearm. The use of a TTC rental firearm must be coordinated before the date of the training.

Defensive Shotgun 1

Duration: 2 hours

Many will argue that the shotgun is the best home defense firearm for a variety of reasons. Defensive Shotgun 1 is an intermediate level class providing instruction on how to best utilize your shotgun defensively. This course will include intermediate techniques and precision shooting with the shotgun for defensive purposes. Reloading skills, immediate action drills and the practical and correct use of slings will all be included. 

Prerequisite: Basic Shotgun

The 2 hour Defensive Shotgun 1 class includes targets and predominately range time, “hands-on” progressive instruction.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the class.

Defensive Shotgun 2

Duration: 2 hours

Defensive Shotgun 2 is an intermediate to advanced level class providing instruction on how to best utilize your shotgun in a defensive manner. This course will include advanced tactics and precision shooting with the shotgun for defensive purposes and will include movement and firing with the shotgun. Learn how to get the most out of your shotgun with this course. 

 Prerequisite: Defensive Shotgun 1

The 2 hour Defensive Shotgun 1 class includes targets and predominately range time, “hands-on” progressive instruction.

Low Light Shotgun Tactics

Duration: 2 hours

Low Light Shotgun Tactics is a course that instills in the defensive shotgun handler how to safely and tactically operate the shotgun defensively in varying light conditions. Students will understand how lighting conditions impact the eyes, targeting, manipulation of the equipment and the use of both hand held and gun mounted lights.

Students will participate in loading and firing the shotgun under various lighting conditions and will understand how to maintain a defensive superiority when operating in these areas.

Prerequisite: Defensive Shotgun 2

The 2 hour Low Light Shotgun Tactics class includes targets and range time, “hands-on” progressive instruction.
